About the Work
On arrival in Phoenix, I was surprised to discover, in my rental car's courtesy city-map, a sizeable area of the city entitled the ' Salt River Indian Reservation'. There had been no reference to this in the guidebooks I had been reading on the airplane. So I set off down Indian School Road which, arrow straight, transverses the centre of the city and this reservation. I selected two cross roads and took a photograph at each.
″I still use the same approach to my work: I get an idea, think of the title and then make the work. So not much has changed since 1964″
